2019-2022 Board

MASA is governed by a board of 23 members representing different exchange and scholarship programs. The board is elected every two years and is headed by a President and a Vice President who are appointed by the board. The current MASA board was elected in November 2019 and  November 2021 and comprises of the following members:

Current Board Members

Ms. Bilguun Erdenebat, President of MASA

Ms. Bilguun Erdenebat, a 2013-2015 Fulbright Fellow, has over ten years’ experience in climate change, environment, and sustainable development specializing in social development and gender equality. She is currently working for the Asian Development Bank as a Social Development and Gender Consultant. Previously, she has worked for organizations such as Green Climate Fund, UNEP, Global Green Growth Institute, German International Cooperation (GIZ), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Save the Children and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia. She received an M.P.S degree in International Development from Cornell University (2015) and a B.A degree in International Economic Relations from the National University of Mongolia (2009).

Ms. Nomin Dashnyam, Vice President of MASA

Ms. Nomin Dashnyam is a partner of MahoneyLiotta LLP.  She has diverse legal experience providing general corporate, capital markets, project finance, infrastructure, public-private partnership, employment, minerals and energy law advice to many of the world’s leading international law firms, investment and commercial banks and mining companies and other corporates. Nomin is an alumna of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD).  She received her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law (USA) and her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the School of Law, National University of Mongolia. Nomin currently sits on the board of Hobby School Alumni Association NGO and Lean In Mongolia NGO.

Ms. Sanjaakhand Nansalmaa, CEO of MASA

Ms. Sanjaakhand Nansalmaa, a 2015-2016 Fulbright Fellow. Sanjaakhand holds a Master of Public Administration degree, as well as Advanced Diploma in Leadership of International & Non-government Organizations from Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University. Currently she is working at UNICEF Mongolia, as well as serving as a part-time Subject Matter Expert for the UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office. She is also a board member and volunteer at Save Infants NGO.

Ms. Gantsetseg Myagmarjav, Treasurer of MASA 2022

Ms. Gantsetseg Myagmarjav is the Banking Supervisor at the Bank of Mongolia, the largest financial regulatory authority in the country, and focuses on developing economic policies and guidelines. In this role, Gantsetseg is an avid policy maker, who is devoted to contributing to the economic growth of Mongolia. She received her MBA, specializing in Accounting, from the Rochester Institute of Technology in USA and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the National University of Mongolia. Gantsetseg is also a Fulbright Alumna, International Peace Scholar, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society.

Ms. Javkhlanbazar Radnaabazar, Treasurer of MASA 2019-2022

Ms. Javkhlanbazar Radnaabazar (Jenny), graduated from DePaul University with B.S. in Marketing and Finance and graduated Continuing Education School at Harvard University with MLA in Management. She has been working at Mongolian mining company’s foreign relations and investment sector since 2010, concentrating on project developments by adapting international advisers’ critics and consultancies. Also, she worked as a BOD secretary, where she was in charge of quarterly BOD meetings of board of directors and senior management team. In the past, Jenny published acknowledged international case studies and briefings on the local marketing magazine “Marketing Today” hoping to incorporate and introduce the international best practices to the local community.

Mrs. Munkhsoyol Baatarjav, Board member

Ms. Munkhsoyol Baatarjav, a 2011 Hubert Humphrey Fellow, is a CEO, Institute for National Strategy, a non-profit and nongovernmental organization. Recent years she worked as a commentator on economy for Mongol TV, as a senior consultant on Public Finance Management for the Energy Efficiency Project of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and as an expert for the Governance and Public Finances Management Sector Review of the EU. Prior to joining INS and GIZ, she worked at the Open Society Forum Foundation as an Economic Policy Program Manager. She has over fifteen years of experience conducting and supervising economic and business development research and policy analysis, projects and programs. Mrs. Munkhsoyol’s background is in economics, business administration and international finance and she holds a MBA from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand and a MSc from SKEMA/The European School of Management in France.

Mr. Namnandorj Bayaraa, Board member

Mr. Namnandorj Bayaraa graduated with bachelor's degree in Psychology and International Trade from SUNY at Buffalo. Namnandorj started his media startup Remo Media two years ago to combat misinformation and elevate digital media scene in Mongolia. He has working experience in IT and financial companies. Namnandorj actively contributes in projects as a member of Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub.

Mr. Ganzorig Vanchig, Board member

Mr. Ganzorig Vanchig is the Chairman of the Board at Bat Solution Partners, a business consulting firm specializing in strategy and communications. Prior to Bat Solution Partners, Ganzorig held leadership positions at Media Group, Shunkhlai Group, MOSDAQ, XacBank, and Trade and Development Bank. Ganzorig earned his Master’s degree in Electronic Business Management from the International University of Japan and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame Australia. He has completed trainings on management, leadership and policy innovation at the University of Cape Town, National University of Singapore, University of Witwatersrand, Oxford University, and Yale University. He has been awarded the title of Mongolian Certified Management Consultant from the Mongolian Management Consultants’ Institute. Ganzorig is also a Young Global Leader, Class of 2014, of the World Economic Forum. As part of his social responsibility, Ganzorig is the Founder and Chairman of Down Syndrome Association of Mongolia and Young Professionals’ Group – Mentorship program as well as Board Member of the Special Olympics Committee Mongolia, and Academy member of the Global Teacher Prize. Furthermore, he is a columnist at the leading news portal sites as well as a host of ‘Syndicate Talk with Vinzo’ multi-format talk show.  Since 2017, he has held the position of President of the CEO Club Mongolia, which is one of the most respected and reputable business advocacy associations representing top Mongolia based business groups and companies.

Ms. Undraa Damdinsuren, Board member

Ms.Undraa Damdinsuren currently works for Advisory at KPMG Mongolia. Formerly, she worked in investment management at the Development Bank of Mongolia as well as in economic research at the German Institute for
Economic Research (DIW Berlin) in Berlin. Undraa holds a B.S. degree in Economics from the Humboldt University of Berlin. She also studied at the University of Wyoming, taking part in the Global Undergraduate
Exchange Program (2010-2011). She is passionate about equal educational opportunity and inclusive growth.

Mr. Amar Bayasgalan, Board member

Mr. Amar Bayasgalan is currently working as General Director at Alliance-Tech LLC. He has been working in the energy sector since 2016 and serves on the governing board of the World Energy Council's Mongolia Member Committee. Amar graduated with a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering from Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore before pursuing his B.S in Mechanical Engineer at Florida Institute of Technology. Amar also holds an M.A in Public Administration from the National Academy of Governance in Ulaanbaatar. 

Ms. Bolor Jamiyandagva, Board member

Ms. Bolor Jamiyandagva is currently working as a specialist at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports of Mongolia. Ms. Bolor holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Economic Relations from the National University of Mongolia and has also studied at the Akita International University in Japan and the Georg-August University of Goettingen, Germany on an exchange program respectively. She is a Resolution Project Fellow, SUSI Alumni for Women’s Leadership, a Hansen Fellow and a YLP Alumni of Zorig Foundation.

Mr. Enkhbold Borookhoi, Board member

Mr. Enkhbold Borookhoi currently holds Senior Investment Analyst at Development Finance Asia Ltd. (DFA), a Hong Kong-based investment firm, working on deal execution for new investments and value creation at existing investments. He has a strong finance background in various roles at two of Mongolia’s largest banking institutions and one of the country’s fastest and most innovative Premium distribution company. He holds an MBA degree from University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and a BA degree from Kwangwoon University, Seoul. Additionally, he has passed CFA exam Level 1.

Ms. Sodgerel Chinburen, Board member

Ms. Sodgerel Chinburen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in IT Management from State University of New York at Albany. Sodgerel is a Project Enablement Analyst at Rio Tinto Mongolia. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, she worked as a senior IT Auditor at Deloitte Mongolia. She has extensive experience in conducting IT audit and assessing the effectiveness of the internal control activities under International Standards of Auditing for clients in various industries. During her time with Deloitte, she had an opportunity to work at Deloitte's Hong Kong office on IT Audits of multinational investment banks.

Mr. Gantushig Gankhuyag, Board member

Mr. Gantushig Gankhuyag, or simply Tushig, is a banker and financial service professional. Currently, he is providing consultancy services to the Asian Development Bank on regional and private sector development in Mongolia. Previously, he worked with the Development Bank of Mongolia and Khan Bank, where he was primarily responsible for wholesale funding and investor relations activities. Tushig received his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Cornell University in 2019 as a Fulbright Scholar and his B.S. in Finance from Indiana University South Bend in 2010.

Mr. Myagmarjav Lkhagvasuren, Board member

Mr. Myagmarjav Lkhagvasuren majored in wildlife ecology. I got UGRAD scholarship to study in Humboldt State University in California and Fulbright scholarship to study my master in Vermont University. Currently, I am working in Oyu tolgoi mine as a Fauna research specialist. I used to play basketball professionally but now it’s a hobby. My other hobby is drifting with a car.

Ms. Oyuntugs Bayaraa, Board member

Ms. Oyuntugs (Oyut) Bayaraa is an English language Translator and Rehabilitation Counselor as graduated from Mongolian University of Science and Technology and the University of Arkansas, USA on Fulbright scholarship. Through her blindness, she has overcome many obstacles in educational and vocational settings. Currently, she is focusing on intensifying a newly established national umbrella council of disability organizations of Mongolia and her NGO Firefly House in relation to her ambitious goal to psychosocial rehabilitation model for people with psychiatric disabilities.

Mr. Tuguldur Enkhtsetseg, Board member

Mr. Tuguldur Enkhtsetseg (short name is Tuugii) is a 2018-2019 Humphrey fellow and is a graduate from Cornell University program on natural resource management, environmental policy and climate change. Currently, Tuugii is a Conservation planner at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Mongolia program, implementing conservation action planning across Mongolian Protected Areas network. Tuugii is as well as Mongolia franchise leader of global Conservation Coaches Network. Over the last 10 years, he has contributed in strengthening and building capacity of protected areas staff in Mongolia for improving effective management.

Ms. Tsolmon Adiya, Board member

Ms. Tsolmon Adiya is a Fulbright 2015-2017 Scholar. She holds a Masters of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Utah and currently working for the Energy Resources LLC as a Petrographic Laboratory Manager. She is active in areas of sedimentary geology research, mineral exploration, mining geology, and coal processing. Also, she is a member of Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, coal exploration Competent person, and internationally accredited coal petrographer. Ms. Tsolmon has experience in mineral resource estimation by both Mongolian and International standards. She works and consults on various mineral exploration projects across Mongolia primarily focusing on coal exploration, mining geology. Aside from her professional career, she is enthusiastic about volunteerism and has been an active member of MASA since 2017.

Mr. Byambasuren Chuluunbat, Board member

Mr. Byambasuren Chuluunbat is a 2019-2020 Fulbright Fellow and a recent graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with a specialization in Renewable and Sustainable Energy. He has over eight years of combined experience in the Mongolian energy and the mining sectors where he was responsible for government relations and corporate social responsibility. After his graduation, he has secured funding from and is in partnership with the US-based non-profit, Spirit of America, to start a pilot project called the “Affordable Solar Irrigation Pump” in the Gobi Desert where he aims to enable herders to become farmers with the focus on reducing desertification, overgrazing, and transportation CO2 while increasing the nutrition intake of the locals with locally grown vegetables. He is an avid hiker, traveler, and an enthusiast for green growth and tackling climate change.

Ms. Oyu Bayarsaikhan, Board member

Ms. Oyu Bayarsaikhan is a Fulbright and a Global UGRAD alumna. She completed her Master of Accountancy degree at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Fulbright scholarship from 2016 to 2018. She also graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master of Finance degree at the Judge Business School in 2020. She is currently working as a State auditor at the National Audit Office of Mongolia. She is honored and humbled to join MASA as a Board member to promote democratic social development and equal opportunities across all spectrums of Mongolian society.

Mr. Usukhbayar Enkhjargal, Board member

Mr. Usukhbayar Enkhjargal is a project manager at Prime Minister's Delivery Unit. He has diverse experience in corporate digital transformation, optimization models, decision analysis, and BI development. He has worked on the heavy manufacturing sector's global-scale digital transformation projects at Cummins Inc in the USA and then worked as a digital transformation consultant to a few Mongolian corporates. Usukhbayar received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Operation Engineering from the University of Michigan. He currently sits on the board of Teach for Mongolia. 

Mr. Batkhuu Dashnyam, Board member

Mr. Batkhuu Dashnyam works at a Spanish IT provider Amadeus in Mongolia as a Head of Business Development. He had been in the travel and airline industry for 7 years. He has gained experience in managing teams, providing IT technical expertise and leadership. Batkhuu has a master's in public administration degree from the National Academy of Governance in Mongolia. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University in Social Sciences and an Associate of Arts degree from South Puget Sound Community College. As a student, he successfully ran for the student senate office. He is interested in psychology, sociology, basketball, film, changing the world, and MASA activities. 

Mr. Carlos Patino, Board member

Mr. Carlos Patino arrived in Mongolia in early 2020, where he assumed the role as Regional Executive Director of CENTURY 21 Mongolia, leading brand in the real estate industry. Before moving to Mongolia he lived, worked and volunteered in Ecuador, The United States, Chile, Nepal and Mainland China. Carlos holds a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering specialized in structures and city planning, he’s worked in mining, education and project management, deciding to change career paths several times helped him find his true calling, helping people achieve their full potential in business. His passion for self-development and education gave him the opportunity to travel as volunteer around the world. He worked on programs to feed underprivileged communities and teaching English and business to local youth, while getting to run full marathons in five different cities. Carlos is thrilled to work with the board of MASA, seeking to fulfill the mission of promoting democratic social development and equal opportunities across all spectrums of Mongolian society.
