Current Leadership

MASA is governed by a board of 18 members representing different exchange and scholarship programs. The board is elected every two years and is headed by a President and a Vice President who are appointed by the board. The current MASA board was elected in December 2022 and comprises of the following members:

Current Board Members

Ms. Gantsetseg Myagmarjav, President of MASA

Ms. Gantsetseg Myagmarjav is the Senior Supervisor at the Bank of Mongolia, the largest financial regulatory authority in the country, and focuses on developing economic policies and guidelines. In this role, Gantsetseg is an avid policy maker, who is devoted to contributing to the economic growth of Mongolia. She received her MBA, specializing in Accounting, from the Rochester Institute of Technology in USA and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the National University of Mongolia. Gantsetseg is also a Fulbright Alumna, International Peace Scholar, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society.

Mr. Amar Bayasgalan, Vice President of MASA

Mr. Amar Bayasgalan is currently working as General Director at Alliance-Tech LLC. He has been working in the energy and infrastructure sector since 2016 and is a member of the World Energy Council's "Future Energy Leader - 100" program. Amar graduated with a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering from Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore before pursuing his B.S in Mechanical Engineer at Florida Institute of Technology. Mr. Amar also holds an M.A in Public Administration from the National Academy of Governance in Ulaanbaatar.

Mr. Dorjnamjin Nyamsuren, CEO of MASA

Mr. Dorjnamjin Nyamsuren is the Country Representative of American Council, Mongolia. He is a former Advisor at EducationUSA Mongolia during MASA’s implementation. He studied International Economics and Relations at the National University of Mongolia, and Utica College in New York as a UGRAD participant respectively. Previously, he has worked for Mongolian Ways Co., Ltd, Veritas Global Co., Ltd and Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project, and served as co-founder of Mongolian Top Trips Co.,Ltd. He has 9 years’ experience in tourism and 13 years’ experience in community services such as a member of the UN youth advisory panel, head of National Children Council “Child Vision” with World Vision Mongolia, founder of World Leadership international youth network. He has worked on the implementation of every programs of MASA as a program officer between 2020 and 2022. Mr. Dorjnamjin is also an author of a book, “Mongolian Development Model-TORUS” and has several publications on economic magazines including Indian Study, Development Guide Book etc.

Ms. Uranzaya Erdenebold, Treasurer of MASA

Ms. Uranzaya (Zaya) Erdenebold is a young professional with academic background in business economics and sustainability management studies and professional experience in corporate banking, international business development project, international tax, and transfer pricing. Zaya currently works as a Transfer pricing manager at EY Mongolia and previously worked at a USAID-funded project, Business Plus Initiative, and other business organizations. She holds a M.S. in Sustainability Management from the American University in Washington D.C. and Bachelor of Economics in Business Economics from University of Finance and Economics. Zaya is a recipient of P.E.O International Peace Scholarship (2017 – 2018), a scholarship for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. or Canada. She is also one of the founding members of Lucky Paws, Mongolia's first non-governmental organization that rescues stray animals and promotes awareness for animal welfare.

Mr. Biligt Tsogsaikhan, Secretary of MASA

Mr. Biligt Tsogsaikhan lived most of his life in the United States, about nine years in Oahu, Hawaii, and six years in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Lipscomb University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Sustainability Science, with an emphasis in Biology. Then worked at the non-profit organization, Turnip Green Creative Reuse, working in education and sustainability practices. Moved back to Mongolia in 2020 and was an Education Advisor at EducationUSA Mongolia and a Junior Officer at the Mongolian Association of State Alumni from 2021-2022. Currently, he is the Academic Counselor at the American School of Ulaanbaatar. As a MASA Board Member Mr. Biligt hopes to continue helping the Mongolian Youth for equal education opportunities as he has before and expand MASA to reach even more youth.

Mr. Myagmarjav Lkhagvasuren, Board Member

Mr. Myagmarjav Lkhagvasuren majored in wildlife ecology. I got UGRAD scholarship to study in Humboldt State University in California and Fulbright scholarship to study my master in Vermont University. Currently, I am working in Oyu tolgoi mine as a Fauna research specialist. I used to play basketball professionally but now it’s a hobby. My other hobby is drifting with a car.

Mr. Batkhuu Dashnyam, Board Member

Mr. Batkhuu Dashnyam works at a Spanish IT provider Amadeus in Mongolia as a Head of Business Development. He had been in the travel and airline industry for 7 years. He has gained experience in managing teams, providing IT technical expertise and leadership. Batkhuu has a master's in public administration degree from the National Academy of Governance in Mongolia. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University in Social Sciences and an Associate of Arts degree from South Puget Sound Community College. As a student, he successfully ran for the student senate office. He is interested in psychology, sociology, basketball, film, changing the world, and MASA activities. 

Mr. Carlos Patino, Board Member

Mr. Carlos Patino arrived in Mongolia in early 2020, where he assumed the role as Regional Executive Director of CENTURY 21 Mongolia, leading brand in the real estate industry. Before moving to Mongolia he lived, worked and volunteered in Ecuador, The United States, Chile, Nepal and Mainland China. Carlos holds a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering specialized in structures and city planning, he’s worked in mining, education and project management, deciding to change career paths several times helped him find his true calling, helping people achieve their full potential in business. His passion for self-development and education gave him the opportunity to travel as volunteer around the world. He worked on programs to feed underprivileged communities and teaching English and business to local youth, while getting to run full marathons in five different cities. Carlos is thrilled to work with the board of MASA, seeking to fulfill the mission of promoting democratic social development and equal opportunities across all spectrums of Mongolian society.

Ms. Bolormaa Ankhbayar, Board Member

Ms Bolormaa is an alumna of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD). She studied at St. Catherine University in Minnesota as a Global UGRAD participant and received her BBA Degree from the University of Finance and Economics in 2022. Currently working as an Audit Associate at KPMG Mongolia. Ms. Bolormaa also volunteers at Sustainable Education NGO.

Ms. Urin Nyamsuren, Board Member

Ms. Urin Nyamsuren is a Global Undergraduate Exchange Program alumna of 2021, who attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire majoring in Finance. Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Finance and Economics in Ulaanbaatar, she worked as a financial analyst in fields such as fintech and investment. Ms. Urin currently works in the creative field as a book translator, independent music artist, music producer, and content creator, publishing educational and lifestyle content online.

Ms. Chinkhand Dorj, Board Member

Ms. Chinkhand Dorj a Hubert Humphrey Fellow, the Manager of Media and Community Relations at Boroo Gold LLC. Her career in communications and media relations has developed and extended through the public sector (Mongolian National Broadcasting), international development sector (The Asia Foundation) and more recently with key leading companies within the private (minerals) sector (SouthGobi Sands and Boroo Gold). Ms. Bolormaa period of study at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arizona State University (ASU) as a Humphrey Fellow in 2010-2011 remains an inspirational experience for me. I am always eager to meet new challenges and to develop my career in areas that meaningfully advance sustainable and responsible approaches to environmental, social and economic development.

Ms. Iveel Munkhbaatar, Board Member

Ms. Iveel Munkhbaatar graduated with bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and Global Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She has currently enrolled in Master’s program in Transitional Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law at the Geneva Academy on full scholarship and recently worked with the Human Rights Now, International NGO with particular interest in ongoing human rights violations in East Asia region. Previously, she worked at IOM-Mongolia, UN agency on projects dealt with strengthening the management of internal migration and supporting activities to combat trafficking-persons in Mongolia. Also, she worked as an Education Advisor at EducationUSA Mongolia and a Junior Program Officer at the Mongolian Association of State Alumni. She served as a Youth Delegate of Mongolia to the International Human Rights Summit at the United Nations held in New York in 2019.

Ms. Khaliunaa Baasankhuu, Board Member

Ms. Khaliunaa Baasankhuu received her Bachelor's degree in Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy from the University of Akron in 2022. She was the recipient of the Akron International Scholars Award, a full-ride scholarship given to one international student. Upon graduating as one of the top 10 graduates at her university, Ms.Baasankhuu has worked with the U.S. National Science Foundation on commercialization possibilities of synthetic heart valves in the U.S. market. Now, she has returned to her hometown to contribute in her area of expertise. Besides studies and work, she is passionate about volunteerism and has been working as the Co-Founder and Vice President of the volunteer association called SLO since 2016.

Ms. Misheel Enkhtur, Board Member

Ms. Misheel Enkhtur is an University of California, Berkeley graduate, Class of 2018. Following her interest in math and science, She majored in Environmental Economics and Policy. Since graduation, Ms. Misheel have accumulated 4 years of professional experience in multiple fields, including Sponsored Research Office, marketing, and currently working in a technology start-up, what3words, as a Data Quality Associate. While work is exciting, life outside of work should also be enjoyable, so a morning yoga or a quick physical activity are critical parts of her life to clear her mind. Also, she is a big advocate for sustainability. Ms. Misheel is thrilled to serve as a Board Member for the next two years and along with other bright minds, she believes the board can make big impacts on our community.

Ms. Naranbileg Batjargal, Board Member

Ms. Naranbileg Batjargal is a 2019 Fulbright Alumni. She studied a Master of Business Administration at Purdue University focusing on operations and supply chain management. She has eight years of experience in chemical manufacturing, operations, logistics, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Nyambayar Batbayar, Board Member

Dr. Nyambayar Batbayar earned his Master's Degree in Raptor Biology from Boise State University in 2004 and a Doctorate Degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2013. He is the Executive Director of the Wildlife Science and Conservation Center of Mongolia and a Research Associate with the International Crane Foundation. He is one of the most accomplished scientists and a well-known conservationist in Mongolia and has successfully completed numerous projects on wildlife research, conservation, and various other environmental issues. Dr. Batbayar also serves as an expert on several specialists group of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Convention of Migratory Species, and the East Asia-Australasian Flyway Partnership. He strongly believes in the power of local capacity building, and thus has immense contribution to Mongolia's capacity building in science and conservation.
