The 2012 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund Has Begun!
The State Department’s Alumni Affairs Division launched the second annual Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) project competition on Monday, February 27.  AEIF offers the more than one million alumni of United States government-funded exchange programs the opportunity to partner with other alumni and U.S. missions abroad to propose solutions to tackle global issues from civic engagement to economic growth.  Alumni teams are eligible to win up to $25,000 in support of their projects. “Peace Partners” Joint Israeli-Palestinian IVLP Alumni Attend Reception
On February 13, 2012, the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv and the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem hosted a reception for 2010 and 2011 alumni of the “Peace Partners” joint Israeli-Palestinian International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to discuss shared experiences and create opportunities for future cooperation. The highlight of the event was a presentation by two Israeli and Palestinian alumnae who stood together to explain the transformative experience of the joint program. The Palestinian alumna stated that before this program she only knew Israelis “as soldiers at the checkpoint, as occupiers.” The program gave her the opportunity to meet Israelis outside of the conflict, allowing her “to see a human being” with whom she has much in common, and to transform her life in many ways. "Faces of FLEX" Photo and Video Contest Winners Announced
On February 17, 2012, the American Councils for International Education and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announced six winners of the "Faces of FLEX" photo and video contest. First, second, and third-place winning photos and videos were selected from more than 500 alumni submissions. Read more>


State Alumni Member of the Month, Tanbir ul Islam Siddiqui 

Tanbir ul Islam Siddiqui of Bangladesh has been selected as the U.S. Department of State’s Alumni Member of the Month for March 2012 in recognition of his tireless efforts to support civic education, human rights, and good governance.  Since his return from his 2004 IVLP on the topic of Civic Education in the United States, he transformed the focus of his organization, Change Makers, towards youth civic education and is a dynamic advocate for the issue throughout his country.
