Empowering Women and Girls: Includes activities that enhance or support women's and girls' access to the political process, economic opportunity, sports, or education.

Social Inclusion/Alternatives for Vulnerable Populations: Includes activities that promote human rights and that benefit groups that have documented low levels of access to opportunities and services. Examples of these groups include ethnic or religious minorities, LGBT groups, at-risk youth, and persons with disabiliites. Proposals that provide positive alternatives for these at-risk populations are more competitive. Proposals to provide direct social services to a population are not allowed.

Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment: Includes activities to promote the culture of entrepreneurship or develop entrepreneurial ecosystems. Activities that promote or enhance the employability of youth include skills training, awareness of exisiting job resources, or job creation through entrpreneurship. Proposals to create for-profit businesses or to employ youth are not supported through this program.

Access to Education: Includes activities that enable all people to have an equal opportunity to education, regardless of social status, ethnicity, religion, or disability. Proposals that promote mentoring programs such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) or English language are also acceptable.

Climate Change and Environmental Protection: Includes activities to educate and promote awareness of critical global environmental issues such as climate change, carbon pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, ocean conservation, polar issues, clean and renewable energy, and sustainable land use.

Conflict Resolution: Includes activities that address current and emerging conflicts aimed at addressing the underlying causes of destabilizing violence. Proposals that address an urgent or unmet need that empower youth and women are the most competitive.

Global Health Awareness: Includes projects and/or campaigns that educate the public on improving overall health, fitness, and disease prevention. Proposals that provide direct health care, or medicines are not allowed.

Civic Participation: Includes community service projects and/or activities that support and promote active citizen participation or observation of the governmental/political process on the local, state, or federal level, freedom of expression and freedom of the press .
