“Let’s discuss together- Women's Leadership” - Workshop

On March 25 and 26, 2017, MASA successfully organized two-day workshop as a follow-up to the Women’s Leadership Panel Discussion that they hosted at the Blue Sky Tower on March 15, 2017. MASA received close to 60 applications for this two-day workshop, and selected 16 participants through a screening process. The main requirements for participants were a) must have attended Women’s Leadership - Distinguished panel discussion, b) to be a State Alumni who studied in the U.S on one of Fulbright, FLTA, Humphrey, IVLP, SUSI, Open World, and PFP fellowship or to be a MASA member,  c) most importantly to have positive attitude and willingness to implement a “women’s leadership” project to make positive change in the community.

The first day of the workshop was organized at the American Corner on March 25th, 2017.  Speakers and special guests provided extensive information on women’s leadership including major concerns, current and future challenges, important breakthroughs, possible projects and funding, project implementation, current government policies, scientific studies and shared their personal experiences as well. The workshop was carried in informal and casual manner, participants freely asking any questions they’d like and the guests answering elaborately.

Participants also received detailed information and main requirements on small and local grant funding opportunities provided by U.S Embassy and the annual Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) funded by the State Department.

Second day of the workshop was organized at the Red Rock resort, which is located 50 km from Ulaanbaatar city. The Ganabell Human Resource Institute moderated the workshop and focused on main principals of project development and the necessary methodologies along with number of team building and brain storming activities. Participants were divided into four teams and studied several types of team communications and cultures and fundamentals of a successful team. At the end of the workshop, each team came up with different project ideas with clear understanding of project development and main principles of teamwork.

MASA aimed to equip selected 16 participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to write a project proposal so that they can apply to Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) or any other projects. In the afternoon, the participants reflected on what they have learnt in the morning session and each team discussed about their project proposals with the new SMART approach. At the end of the workshop, each team presented their project ideas and constructive comments were made by the other teams. An opportunity was given to individuals interested in the pitching their own ideas to those who are interested to join them..

Next Panel Discussion will be held in May, 2017. Please stay with us on Facebook :)
